Here Comes The Sun Missing Guitar Solo

Post by itslefty »

Are the versions of 'Here Comes The Sun' I'm hearing with George's missing guitar solos fakes? I know the version where Dhani, Paul and George Martin listening to the various tracks on a mixing board is authentic but the full versions I'm finding feel like they've been recreated and are not genuine. Am I wrong? Set me straight! Thanks!

All those versions derive from the multi track playback you mention. So all are fan mixed. Not all use the complete accurate solo, though. There are mixes that use a cut and paste approach to avoid the voice over. The one I made spectrally isolates the whole guitar and puts it in the mix

Thank you CSNYFan for such an informed answer. Where can I find your version?

Thanks also from my part! I got curious reading the title of the thread and then downloaded your version. By far the best mix of this I have come across. Very well done!

It's extremely interesting but seems out of tune to me.

I think George was just experimenting to see what something like that sounded in the track but it was never going to be used in that incarnation.

People want to call it a "lost" solo but that's the wrong word since it was never going to be used.

I would imagine the 8-tracks have lots of test bits that were never used because they realized it just didn't work.

I actually like that solo, and I think that it doesn't sound out of place in that spot (without some overdubs).

Maybe it was just an experiment. Nothing too elaborated.

To me the solo sounds more like a template for the strings.
