Need help with EMITAPE E70549 from Sept 16, 1968 (I will Session)
Re: Need help with EMITAPE E70549 from Sept 16, 1968 (I will Session)
Thanks - Take 19, and I have learned the origin of E70539 - it was a specially made ad lib tape that took pieces from the original 3 reels! After the way you look, the engineer decided to go back and grab take 19 which explains it's out of place addition.
If doing a chronological listing - I'll put take 19 back in it's spot before Blue Moon....
If reproducing this reel - it goes AFTER The Way You Look!
THanks everyone!

I tried saying this when I first saw it too but everyone acted like books are more accurate than boxes themselves. I forget where, but 7's are written on other tape boxes similar.

After reading this discussion I definitely need to update A White Year eventually…. one discovery i did make working on it was how Hey Jude Take 1 in the boxset HAS to be mislabeled as you can very clearly hear George Martin announce Take 15 at the end of it. It’s in White Year as Take 14.

Darth Kybiel have you looked and conpared box 70550 of Long Long Long? We definitely know Mike was engineer there consider my comments about Mike's pen drama's and how rushed he appears to be in a cramped space available. Compare that to 70549 and the pen point is a bit thicker which influenced how he wrote.
I don't want to say which is which I'll let you figure it out and come to your own conclusion rather say its this that.
Other factors to consider: the tape boxes are are wide, they appear to be gloss paper and consider the writing space allocated for all the details, so how do you write: arm elevated or resting on a object the same height? Has anyone written on glossy cardboard with a pen if you're not careful with a crud pen it's easy to be impatient, smudge the wet ink or make dents which is probably what Mike was trying to avoid on 70549.
You can see on 70550 (in the SDE box) there's tons to write and hes got decent pens this day but despite his best efforts he changed pen colors at least 3 times and the end result still looks well done just the it's written is a little all over the writing spaces.
Here from Lewishons Revording Sessions book (my physical copy & much better than the PDF) Mike's recording sheet and handwriting for the entire session. Seems to me he has better luck with flat paper.
