Re: EVOLVER (formerly "Two new ones")
With "I am the Walrus" the mono mix contains a radio sweep added LIVE during mixing. The actual bit of the Shakespeare play DOES exist it has been bootlegged.
With "Tomorrow Never Knows" the tape loop drops are ON the multi-track so no remixing issues. There are no effects added during mixing as far as I know (excepting the compression) it's all on the multi-track. For some reason this track gets constantly pegged as one that can't be remixed. It appears people keep misreading the Lewisohn book and conflate the recording with the mixing. The loops were recorded LIVE to one track of the multi-track not mixed LIVE into the mono and stereo mixes.

Re: EVOLVER (formerly "Two new ones")
They'll be part of Abracadabra but I like to preview them as it helps spot errors or things that could be improved. I won't be re-upping them though so anyone who misses them will have to wait for Abracadabra.
I can isolate the live radio dubs on IATW. I was going to do that anyway but since you've mentioned it I'll have a go at it later today. TNK could also be done but I don't think that would be as interesting. Isn't there a version of the mono Revolver lp with a different mix of TNK that was recalled? That would be more interesting to do, but I don't have that mix.
Anyway, I'm glad people are enjoying them.

Re: EVOLVER (formerly "Two new ones")
I ran "Tomorrow Never Knows" through one of those auto-separate websites and it pulled vocal out just enough so that it could be panned around a little in a remix. The result was not great though but maybe someone with better tools can do better (hint). On the actual multi-track the main lead vocal is actually mixed with the tamboura drone they are NOT separated.
Re: EVOLVER (formerly "Two new ones")
Lord Reith, sir, since this will be part of Abracadabra, does it mean that there will be a White Album Abracadabra in the near future? I'd asked this because of the Revolution Take 20 elover mix.. Or is this be part of an Past Master Abracadabra?

I've always wanted to read that book and I've never come across a copy. Is it worth tracking down?Lord Reith wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 1:47 am Btw I just remembered there's an account in Pete Shotton's book....

For the completists... some details of John’s life (childhood, first night with Yoko, New York in the late seventies) are unique to Shotton’s narrative but the rest of the book is filled out with the inevitable stories he wasn’t around for. He claims to have contributed to a few Beatles songs. Not saying I don’t believe him, but Mal made the same claim as did Donovan and a bunch of others.Muzair wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 3:23 amI've always wanted to read that book and I've never come across a copy. Mark Lewisohn’s book is the best of all of them, for what it’s worth. Better researched, citations, sources that the other books just don’t have.
My opinions are my own, but, my dog tends to agree with everything I say.

Re: EVOLVER (formerly "Two new ones")
There won't be a white album abracadabra, just some outtakes.
It's pretty bawdy but enjoyable. The stories from John's school days are hilarious. After that it gets a bit depressing because it jumps forward ten years to Yoko and she clearly hated his guts.Muzair wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 3:23 amI've always wanted to read that book and I've never come across a copy.
