If it’s under a month away, it’s gotta be May 8th 2024, anniversary of when the film first came out!

Can you give any details that may not make it to the announcement. As with things Apple often their infomation just raises more questions.
I would assume the image will be sourced from scans processsed by Peter Jackson but will they be reframed something closer to 16x9 or kept closer to the original framing? Will they leave some film grain?
I also assume the new version is rebuilt from Jackson's work including the new audio.
Will it include things Hogg wanted in his original edit but had to be trimmed for time?

It will be Peter Jackon's restoration of the original 16 mm negative, with MAL de-mix technology. It doesn't say anything about outtakes or bonus material, or whether he re-framed the 4/3 ratio for widescreen and applied a ton of smoothing to the grain, as he had on 'Get Back'.

The film will be in 16:9 for sure, since that was its "theatrical" format and Get back was the same. If Peejay is involved then i would think he would have pushed to include some of the materials cut from GB.

Don't mean to be a doubter, but it can't be helped , just to many years of disappointment from Apple !
