Ehrich Weiss, better known as escapologist Harry Houdini, is credited with the first controlled flight, at Diggers Rest, Victoria on 18 March 1910.
It is said he was only the 25th person to fly an airplane.

I met Harry Secombe when I sang as part of a school choir at York Cathedral for BBC radio (possibly radio 2). It was 1980 ish I think, I was about 11. I
