Re: The Beatles At The Beeb
The Aug 27 really kicks on all cylinders and might be one of the best. Cyril Davies and Long John Baldry sound great. Plus we get She Loves You! Cue Beatlemania.

Re: The Beatles At The Beeb
Glad you're enjoying the festivities guys. Like I've said many times before, the BBC stuff is for me the real deal. They were white hot and at the top of their game after literally years of daily gigs. Sure they would blossom even further as songwriters and go onto make incredible recordings, but as a live unit they were never better than in the spring and summer of 1963. That they could go into these very basic studios and knock out six performances of such quality in just two hours... well, it's astonishing. It's like they could do nothing wrong. Even when they played Pop Goes The Weasel, they made it sound great!
Yeah I agree, I think that's my favourite too. And I always laugh at "Dear Mr Burke, we hate you". Poor Uncle Rod!MrMurphMcgee wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 5:20 pm The Aug 27 really kicks on all cylinders and might be one of the best. Cyril Davies and Long John Baldry sound great.
