MILES better! Are we going to get a definitive version of this film soon then? With these better vocals and the best picture quality possible?
I do find it odd though that this widely seen film isn't available from a source that doesn't look like it comes off a VHS tape!

This is my copy which I recorded off the BBC in the mid 90s, its gone from video cassette to DVDr then ripped with handbrake. Hopefully it might be useful to someone to upgrade with.

I might be crazy, but I feel like the Nimbus source is slightly higher quality, just has a bit more detail.fabwill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 7:41 am I have a 4gb mkv European version that looks slightly cleaner than the Smile DVD. It has all the extended aspects, aside from the opening and closing sequences that seem to be specific to the BBC/Prime version. I must have downloaded it from here, but who knows? Links below

speaking of Nimbus, currently working on remaster of it, attempting to bring up the quality without just removing all the noise or making too many artifacts... Going remove less noise in the finished project, but here is a teaser of sorts

The problem is that all versions are originally from a VHS source with a resolution of only 320*482. Presumably Amazon used a better SD source (Betamax 625/576i maybe?). I don't know. My registration is no good because my address is not in the UK. Otherwise, Amazon Prime videos can be downloaded using the Tuneboto software.

Tuneboto wants my Amazon account sign in, so I think I'll pass.O1Ghungary wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 3:47 pm The problem is that all versions are originally from a VHS source with a resolution of only 320*482. LOL. That's the point. Otherwise, how else would he have access to the video you rent. All Netflix, HBOMax, AppleTV, Disney downloading software works like this, only with valid access.

That's much appreciated, but do you have the actual DVD files (VOB files)? You don't need any special software to rip a dvdr. Just open it in explorer and copy and paste the VIDEO_TS folder like you would any other type of folder.the_astrochimp wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 2:06 pm This is my copy which I recorded off the BBC in the mid 90s, its gone from video cassette to DVDr then ripped with handbrake.
