Beatles live on BBC Radio VOLUME 3 *MY 2024 STEREO MIXES*
Here’s my third selection of stereo mixes sourced from the mono “Beatles Live at the BBC” CD sets. The often lo-fi sound of these official CDs are sometimes a hard listen to so I hope I’ve managed to improve the fidelity and give a new lease of life to these 60-year old song covers which highlight the group's tightness and power as live performers on the cusp of worldwide fame.
01. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SATURDAY CLUB (recorded 7.9.63, broadcast 5.10.63) Lead Vocals by John, Paul & George.
For the 5th anniversary of ‘Saturday Club’ the Beatles perform “Happy Birthday” in the style of “Just Like Eddie” by ex-Tornados member Heinz.
Recorded at the BBC Playhouse Theatre, London. Produced by Bernie Andrews. From “Saturday Club”.
02. SURE TO FALL (IN LOVE WITH YOU) (recorded 1.6.63, broadcast 18.6.63) Lead Vocals by John & Paul, Bridge Vocals by Paul.
Recorded at the BBC Playhouse Theatre, London. Produced by Terry Henebery. From “Pop Goes The Beatles”.
03. I GOT TO FIND MY BABY (recorded 1.6.63, broadcast 11.6.63) Lead Vocal by John.
Recorded at the BBC Paris Theatre, London. Produced by Terry Henebery. From “Pop Goes The Beatles”.
04. CRYING, WAITING, HOPING (recorded 16.7.63, broadcast 6.8.63) Lead Vocal by George.
Recorded at the BBC Paris Theatre, London. Produced by Terry Henebery. From “Pop Goes The Beatles”.
05. MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (recorded 10.7.63, broadcast 30.7.63) Lead Vocal by John.
Recorded at the Aeolian Hall, London. Produced by Terry Henebery. From “Pop Goes The Beatles”.
06. Bonus Track: DREAM BABY (recorded 7.3.62, broadcast 8.3.62) Lead Vocal by Paul. Drums by Pete Best.
Recorded at the BBC Playhouse Theatre, Hulme, Manchester. Produced by Peter Pilbeam. From “Teenager’s Turn: Here We Go”.
Recorded before a live audience, this was the Beatles’ debut radio performance and the first time they wore suits on stage. Three other acts also appeared on this programme. Pete Best plays drums as it would be another 5 months before Ringo replaced him. This performance was not included on either of the “Beatles Live at the BBC” CD sets due to the very poor recording quality. I’ve improved the sound as much as possible.

I’m starting work soon on Volume 4 so you can expect my final collection of stereo BBC broadcasts by the end of the month.

I did try remixing this song once before but the original audio quality is so bad. I might tackle it again with my new software - but don't expect any miracles!

Could I get a re-up of all 4 volumes? These sound like they’re great. Thanks so much.
