Thanks Mark! Superb.
Searching hard for missing Silent Hills, Non Plus Ultra, WWII, Xavel, Shakuntala sets, fresh Misterclaudel/Valkyrie/Piccadilly.
Also searching hard for FAB CD / DVD releases (solo ones are priority). Ready to trade FAB DVDs with those who trades.

Thanks very much for this… And if my memory serves me correctly the 2 disc Criterion LD was edited…the scene where they grab Paul’s grandfather from the club was removed…maybe to fit on the CLV disc?

I didn't notice any missing scenes. It wouldn't make much sense to cut any scenes from the film on the 2-disc set and then include bonus features.

Thanks so much for this CAV transfer, Mark! It's wonderful to have so many of my Laserdisc collection able to be viewed again, you've posted quite a few of what I have in storage already--plus some I had never bought. I didn't figure anyone would ever do the CAV releases, they cost me a fortune when first released. There is a 2-disc CAV of Help! as well with special features that didn't end up being transferred over to blu-ray. But I've always thought this CAV of AHDN is particularly beautiful in the greyscale tones and clarity.

One of the features of CAV is that every frame is equally rendered and available to view. Using the frame advance button, you are able to view the whole film as clear individual photographs (if you want to.) But that also allows you to see how beautifully and rich this film was photographed originally. In that sense, I felt the CAV Criterion was actually nicer overall than the Criterion Blu-ray turned out. Of course since DVD format has a lower resolution than CAV Laserdisc has, the full clarity isn't here, but this still looks darn good! Thank you for sharing your transfer.

A question, do you actually capture the full Laserdisc output and then down-sample it to DVD files, or do you just directly capture the Laserdiscs into a DVD recorder? If the former, it might be worthwhile to also share the full-resolution output captures as mp4 files or something -- especially for a CAV release like this one. Either way, the CAV versions are special, and are great for everyone to be able to see.
