In this case you've got a good concept but it sounds really bad – like they were singing through plastic mics and you mixed it with a Barbie console-!

And it's not "a mono remix", but maybe a stereo upmix from mono?

If you can somehow improve the sound quality this would be a keeper.

I used demucs for the first time - improved the stems quite a bit - just put a new mix up

Sure - here you go - as you know this is a partial re-arrangement - drums come in not until the B section - levels throughout adjusted, and acoustic and electric guitars added into the orchestra section from the Beatnix's version - re-tuned and adjusted.
