Time to monetize your Barrett tapes

Post by masterjedi »

There are several tracks from the Barrett tapes that we only have multi-generational tapes of. These are available on The Abbey Road Tapes and Down In Havana from Unicorn records. If you know of any sources for these tracks that are closer to the source, please get ahold of me. I can make it worth your while.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (take 5)
Jamming
Down in Havana
Can You Take Me Back (slightly different version from the one on Roaring Mouse or Vigotone), although the unique bits have been surpassed by the new Super Deluxe set
12-Bar Original, rehearsal take (available on Hodge Podge)

There are also a couple versions of It's All Too Much that have never seen the light of day.

Let me know if you have any leads on who owns these tapes, or if you are sitting on copies that are better quality than what's available.

thanks!

I've never heard of these unsurfaced versions of It's All Too Much, is there any hint as to what they might be?

This list is fairly accurate, other than nothing on Vigotone should be listed as core (they just EQ'd and poorly noise reduced the exact same transfer as Roaring Mouse)

I do not remember anything about Yes It Is - RS1. Anything unique on it (slate)?

No, it's the same remix that's on Past Masters.

No, it's become the common version. Took until '76 for it to see the light of day on a Dutch 45 backing Ticket to Ride.

It is, but just not released until later. It was only available in mono in the '60s.

I've always wondered which of the various Barrett Tapes boots was the one closest and truest to the source. Is it the Roaring Mouse/Geritol releases?
