Re: SEVENTEEN (+ EP#1 & 2 + single)
I have always loved and appreciated the Star Club recordings. I would imagine myself in the men's room (or some other non-choice setting), separated from the band by a door. I was in there for decades! But finally, Lord Reith took the door off the hinges with a sonic screwdriver, and now I can hear the band! Farewell, muffled thump! There's an empty table up front. Think I'll get a German beer, a pack of German cigarettes, and watch the band. Wish someone would invent the cell phone. And the internet. These guys could go viral!
Thanks, Lord Reith, and Merry Christmas from Texas!

Outstanding work. Thank you. Finally, after all these years, we can all truly enjoy the Star Club Tapes! The bar's been set mighty high for Peter Jackson to surpass this!

Did Astrid actually call herself "Mrs Sutcliffe"? That hadn't occurred to me.georgefromhenley wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 2:41 pm Before Matchbox Mrs Sutcliffe will be Astrid. The mother never went again to Hamburg.
I dont think she ever called herself like this - but this sounds in my ears like a Beatles-joke.

Take my tip: Watch the slideshow on Magnetophon Band
Advantage: Context, atmosphere, conversation
The audio is great...but I can't put it into perspective without the photos and subtitles/translations.
The difference between the two is that of stepping off of a curb vs. stepping off of a cliff!
Please pass the Preludin!

I don't know where you've been but I've been enjoying them since they were released. The scruffiness Apple has been trying to whitewash since 1970.Cranberry Sauce wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 5:38 am Finally, after all these years, we can all truly enjoy the Star Club Tapes!

To each his own, but I've been enjoying Lord Reith's "Seventeen" so much more than "The Beatles Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962" that I bought in 1977.billychildish wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 2:27 amI don't know where you've been but I've been enjoying them since they were released.
