Hello everyone, I'm a Beatle fan of 50+ years and have read and followed this forum for a while without contributing, so this is my first post.
Of course I am in good company when I say I was excited about a new release, being familiar with the demo and looking forward to what the professionals could bring to the table.
I only have the CD single at the moment and although I like the re-imagining and the video was very poignant, the audio is just too full and busy.
I have no remixing skills but am grateful to Rock Band Stems for deconstructing the song on YouTube.
I now present what I hope is a cleaner, better listen, without everything turned up to the max.
Old school as in without quiet, you can't have loud.
All done on Audacity and pity the powers that be couldn't treat this project with more respect.
Tweaked and re-tweaked 'cause I know you are a discerning lot!
I hopefully give you a mix that has air to breathe.
I kept it as flac even though some parts are lossy.
Many thanks to those who have already presented variations on this song.
Hope you enjoy mine and I look forward to any comments.

Re: Now And Then.....Old School Remix
Sincere thanks for the positive comments, I'm beyond pleased there is appreciation here already.
If anyone would care to share lossless stems? I would happily do it all over again and deliver (hopefully) on point.
Have a great weekend you lot !

Thanks for your contribution! Gentler for sure.
Here are my suggestions:
•Back the reverb off by half (and it seems the strings didn't have any?)
•Bring John's vocal closer to center as it echos too widely into the R side
•Try a mono mix for a true oldies feel! Maybe then the existing reverb would work
•We've all got to do something about Paul's (too long) "solo"-!
Thanks for trimming Ringo's top/tail mumbles

I'm only working with what I have, but do you have a pointer how to reduce reverb in Audacity?
Probably fundamental to you, but I am on a steep learning curve here.
Thanks for the comments and liking my effort.

No problem! I am not a re-fixer but several others here can probably advise. I'm just the QC guyMalpaso1960 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 6:28 pmThanks alpha, all will be taken on board.

Upload the vocal channel (if already isolated) to one of the spectral demix sites that has a reverb separation algorithm. This will give you two files and you use both but have the reverb channel at reduced volume.Do you have a pointer how to reduce reverb in Audacity?/

I use x-minus.pro and then another site has Foxy deverb or somesuch.
De-reverb and De-echo produce different results you have decide which is best.
