So would this be the material that the "McCartney Legacy" authors rummaged through for their book ? I was stunned when I read all the details about the MC1 recording sessions and found it extraordinary that they would have had access to it. Having said that they had details on the actual sessions though so the audio wouldn't have been enough...

No, all songs on this set was created by demixing the Atmos release and McCartney 123 for MIA. So outfakes but still interesting to hear the isolated Atmos channels if you don't have the ability to do so yourself. You can also mix the various Atmos channels with one another to phase cancel sounds common in both (or more) sources to get even more raw sounding versions.
