My Dark Hour Session Stems

Hi everyone. Long time lurker, going back to the BZ days. I finally have something to share. This is my first share so any comments or questions are more than welcome. Unfortunately I only have this in mp3.

These are the stems for My Dark Hour recorded on May 9, 1969. Paul is on drums, bass, guitar and backing vocals. Steve Miller is on guitar and lead vocals. An interesting thing is that years ago I found an alternate mix of this track on the net (I can’t remember where, I think it was from a box set or a compilation of some sort). It’s MUCH better than the original mix from the Steve Miller Band album. And it IS a truly alternate mix, compare the drum tracks (the original mix almost completely mixes out Paul’s bass drum) and the backing vocals (MUCH louder in the alternate mix). I included stems for each version.

As a bonus I included the stems for Celebration Song from the same Steve Miller Band album. I have heard for years that McCartney appears on this track as well, although what he possibly contributed always seems to change. Wikipedia (which we all know is never wrong) used to say that Paul was on backing vocals and guitar. That’s all gone now. I also heard somewhere that he was on DRUMS! Which if you have even one good ear you’d know is laughably false. If you ask me my opinion, I don’t hear him anywhere on this track. In any case, I included all the stems so you can make up your own mind.

You are welcome. Glad to finally give a little back. It’s not much, but maybe some will enjoy it. As a side note, I believe I mislabeled one of the tracks. I think the alternate mix is actually labeled (RS’17) instead of Alternate Mix. My apologies. Eh, it’s my first share. There was bound to be something mess up.

If you go on the Soul Sucker you can find all sorts of releases of this track from various compilations through the years, maybe the alternate mix is one of those (I see there is a 2017 remaster).

In 2015, I had 4 different Mixes of 'My Dark Hour', & yes 'Fly Like An Eagle' I call it part 2...lol.
plus thru' Cool Edit 2.1, I taken the Vocals out, on the 4 mixes as well

I have 2 Steve Miller CD's, 'Brave New World', & King Biscuit Flower Hour [2 CD]

I don't remember if I posted it here or not, in lossless/FLAC
& if anyone can 5.1, quad of whatever, please go for it

I made a mix of 'Eagle' both from the CD Fly Like an Eagle (30th Anniversary Edition)
& the KBFH, & made a experimental long mix [15'44]
