What Is Considered The Ultimate Very Best Decca Auditon Issue ?

Post by Carose »

I've been thinking a lot about the many various incarnations of this topic and with the basket full of different releases , some at different speeds , some incomplete , some re-worked into stereo and remastered , what is now judged to finally be the very best issue ? , at 70 my ears probably aren't the best to say anymore ... Thanks everyone and have a great day :D

I have wondered this too and nearly collapsed trying to work out what it was.

My go to is Lord Reith's Kicks, Kudos and Cash. Disc 3.

I agree. But, on a certain podcast a couple of years ago, Money was played with its original first note intact, without the warble and apparently not fixed via an edit. I've grafted that onto my "listening" file of the tune.
How I wish we could get those recordings legally and without the futz...

Didn't someone do another new release of Decca that was suppose to be in stereo just recently or am I incorrect ?

Interesting. Would you be willing to share your spliced version? I'd love to add it to my "listening edition" as well.

khundalini did a few stereo releases, including one last month (easy to find searching for 'decca' in the search bar). Also Lord Reith released a set of EP's in stereo a while ago. I'm not that impressed with either of those, I prefer the mono of which the Deccagain seems to be best as it's a tape copy rather than a drop of the Deccagone singles. IIRC it's also the source for both Complete Recording Sessions and Kicks Kudos and Cash.

The best mono source is undoubtedly the one used for "Kicks, Kudos and Cash" by Lord Reith. This is identical to the one on "the complete studio recordings".
All stereo remixes are a matter of taste.
