Today's sessions from 7 Apr, 56 years ago. Only the 3rd track is new.

Apr 7th 1966 - Studio Three, 2:30-7:15pm
01. Tomorrow Never Knows – tape loops – Paul’s ‘bag of loops,’ created at home and brought to the
session the next day. The individual loop sections were extracted from the left channel of the stereo
mix, re-looped, slowed and reversed. Each loop is presented three ways: as it might have originally
sounded when recorded at home by Paul, then reversed, then sped up as we hear it on the finished
recording.
02. Tomorrow Never Knows – SI onto take 3 – The performance of the loop track from the left channel
isolation of the stereo. The loops were all recorded together to track 2 as Paul & the others "played
the faders." Then track 2 would have been mixed into the final mix as we hear it on the record; so
there would be more loop sounds on the tape itself than what we hear here. The loop track is mixed in
differently in both mono mixes and in stereo; extra sounds are heard on the stereo, particularly in
the middle backwards guitar section. GM says that the original mixes could never be created again
because of how the faders were played live, but actually it could be because it's all recorded
together onto track 2, which could be mixed in pretty much the same nowadays as it was then. Work on
this song stopped at this point with everything else being overdubbed on 4/22.
Apr 7th 1966 - Studio Three, 8:15pm-1:30am
03. Got To Get You Into My Life – take 5 – The rhythm track, separated from the vocals with the
demucs3 model B setting in mvsep. Paul on guitar and John on organ?
04. Got To Get You Into My Life – SI onto take 5 – A remix of the Anthology version with most of the
instrumental backing removed, highlighting the vocal overdub.

Apr 8th 1966 - Studio Two, 2:30-9:00pm
01. Got To Get You Into My Life – take 8 – drums, bass and two guitars. This is taken from two versions
of the left channel of the stereo remaster edited together, both run through mvsep demucs3B to remove
the leakage of vocals. The guitars, recorded on a dedicated track, bled through on the drum mics and are therefore
still audible on the finished recording. This guitar track was wiped by the later brass overdub. Vocals
were added at this point (also subsequently erased by the brass) for which we have no available audio,
and a guitar part was added the next afternoon that may or may not have been similar to the guitar “solo”
recorded toward the end of the sessions (a good guess; it probably was, see the next entry). The later
overdubs of guitar, organ and vocals (muddily heard at the edit from 1:49 onwards) are all from the later
overdub. There was no "evening" session; the next session is on the 11th.
