Peter Jackson Says It's Up To Us
Re: Peter Jackson Says It's Up To Us
Anyone know any 'higher-ups' within the DISNEY organization to push for an extended cut release?
(I personally know 'Minnie', but I can't say why....."a-hem.")

Re: Peter Jackson Says It's Up To Us
My fear is that Disney will base a deluxe edition decision on how well the upcoming blu-ray sells. For me, I have no interest in a blu-ray that offers nothing I can't already see on Disney+. I am glad they are releasing for those that can't get/ don't want Disney+, but as a Marvel/Star Wars fan, I'm locked into their ecosystem. So without extras I have no interest.
But like many here, I'd be in line on release day if they gave us something- an extra hour or two, the rooftop concert without the street edits, full footage of the day after the rooftop with the "quieter songs". Package it with LP/CD of the rooftop. The possibilities to add sales are all out there and fairly obvious.
Final thought: this Feb 8 release don't seem right for the Beatles. The have been a steady 4th quarter/ holiday release band the past decade. February to me is more Disney than The Beatles, but it makes me wonder what is coming in the 4th quarter of 2022.

Re: Peter Jackson Says It's Up To Us
Jackson's comments seem to imply Disney wholly controls The Beatles catalog.
It's a shame he wasn't used for the 8 Days a Week project.
That did nothing to capture the energy of the period.
Didn't like it then, and it seems more pathetic now.

Maybe some corporate genius saw that as significant.

Re: Peter Jackson Says It's Up To Us
I see your thinking but for one we have absolutely no idea how long it will be available on Disney+ to watch, secondly many people. like me, subscribed to Disney for a month or two just to watch this and the cost of the DVD/blu-ray is equivalent to 4-6 months more streaming so unless you are hooked by Disney+ as you are this is the "get out".Leaping Armadillos wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:56 pm My fear is that Disney will base a deluxe edition decision on how well the upcoming blu-ray sells. I think you are right, i think they will see how sales go and if they are good and the streaming figures remain acceptable then we could be in business. What maybe worth remembering is individually both Peter Jackson and The Beatles are a big deal. Whilst that certainly applies to Disney as well theyve got two massive potential partners going forward on new projects that from a business angle they may wish to keep sweet. Jackson has already stated an extended cut isnt costing much from his end as the work has already been done on cleaning up, synching etc.
Its a very delicate balancing act at present which could go either way.

I´ve read he used a "new technology" to separate voices and instruments.

I was always hoping for upgrades of the Lingasong U.S & UK releases, and now that can possibly happen.Lord Reith wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 12:10 pm Interesting that he wants to have a go at the Star Club.
