re snOOker's post on 02/04/2024 about possible John sleeping/Ashburton shots.
Very hard to determine these as there's not that much to go on. It's never been quite confirmed by exactly which road they would have approached Ashburton, given that they were returning from having been stuck on the bridge at Newbridge. Most sources say the had to reverse reverse half a mile, presumably to turn the bus round at the turning to Holne, and then following the signs to Ashburton. through Hele and turning right into Headborough Road. This last road is the only one in the town/on the possible route that looks steep enough to match the photos, but as the houses would have all been repainted since 1967, it wouldn't be possible to identify them. There are contenders as we approach the town centre, but the gradient is too flat.
I suppose the clue would be in the third shot which suggests steps going up to a doorway, with a white frame and possibly pillars, but I couldn't find anything looking like this. Another possibility could be the descent through Plympton (before Marsh Mills is reached) though here too there has been extensive alteration to the shop fronts.
