Re: Magical Mystery Tour Location Question
The "garden wall" would then be just before the garage. The balloon appears between the goalposts and the wall.
I've been up and down the A38 and looked at the map overlay. but I can't find a thing. There are a few theoretical possibilities - if the wall was actually the turning south on the site of what is now the Chelston Roundabout, then there is what looks like a former garage site soon after.
At some point we see some houses that look very like those at Stonegallows on the approach into Taunton, but I couldn't find any that match.
I can only suppose everything is gone or built over. I'm even beginning to wonder if this the right stretch of road.

Re: Magical Mystery Tour Location Question
I think that is the garage location - I had considered this one but not conclusively as there is no trace of a double garden wall just before it, nor anything suggesting it. The house confirms it though. I think the phonebox and football field are probably lost to BT rationalisation and housing estates though. Can't see any evidence of even where a football field may even once have been. I suppose the field on Wellington New Road (now part of Taunton crematorium grounds) is sizeable enough to have had football played on it, which would put the phonebox approximately where one is marked on the old map, at the end Stonegallows, and where there is also a row of BT pavement covers. Not convinced though.
It is also likely that the edits are probably not in chronological order, which was the case with the Ringo / Jessie sequence.

If so it looks like the soccer field is the Willand Rovers; it matches with approximately the right distance.

Brilliant work FL.
You can follow Google maps through Willand and all the buildings are there.
