Could someone explain to me what the acronym O.P.D. means?

It's O.P.P. It stands for Ontario Provincial Police, in Canada. You have your local cops, then the OPP, then the RCMP. Someone sent Paul an official O.P.P. crest in 1967, which he had sewn on the sleeve of his Pepper costume. The angle of the photo is such that the second P is obscured and has been misidentified as a D. Some brilliant scholar took that to mean that it meant Officially Pronounced Dead.

From what I remember about the "Paul is dead" hoax, "O.P.D." was taken to mean that Paul was "Officially Pronounced Dead": his Sgt. Pepper jacket had insignia with what looked like "O.P.D." on it.

I agree with Paul62 . Thats what i read or heard years ago = the badge McCartney was wearing was a policeman's badge from Canada .
