The Beatles Anthology book describes the scene of the 'waving children' . The dutch edition page 273 gives a clue : near a 'gypsy encampment'. ( So Neal Aspinall remembered ...... ) And the shot is a filler with no passengers and made during the editing of MMT with Nick Knowland as cameraman.

Editing took place in October, November and December so that gives a 'time-frame' .......

Maybe it's just me, but when I look at the wavers I see English girls, not gypsy children.

I keep thinking if we look hard enough we'll find an article somewhere "I waved at The Beatles!".

Hmm. Has anyone looked through the "marathon" footage to see if those girls are present?

Isn't the greenery (trees, grass, etc.) extremely "green" for that time of late fall/early winter?

I reckon no later than early October, the grass has just been cut on either side of the road.

Bingo! it's Wooburn Green

The road has been straightened, but not the curve in the foreground. If you juggle with the dates and the zoom on the google road map images you can just see through the foliage the edge of this which I thought was a church:

That is truly amazing work! I can see it... the curve and side street match.

Not knowing where Wooburn Green is, however... where does this place the footage? Is it part of the pickup shots from October 1st?

If the bus carries on in this direction they will be at Cores End in probably 5 mins. However Cores End is part of the rainy day footage. Everything seems to be around the Marlow/Henley area, but it's whether we think it was all done on 1 Oct and the weather was very changeable that day, or they did an additional day.

Is there a link to a map ca. 1967 that I could print-out and try and pinpoint the locations? From reading this thread, it looks like things have changed a lot in 50+ years, so current maps really wouldn't do the trick.
