Unfaded from the 5.1 mix
Rupert Pupkin wrote: Mon Jan 15, 2024 10:53 pmCan you do something with the Booker T. Steve Cropper-guitar-like early rehearsal of "Cry Baby Cry" on the SDE ? This is one of my favorite studio outtake of the set.
Not sure what to do with that, seems just fine.

perhaps unfading the end of "Cry Baby Cry" ?

contrary to John Lennon, after having listen to your recent mixes I have to say that I believe in magic... is there a way the way too distant vocals on the guide vocal take 5 of "Yer Blues" SDE can be boosted ? :?:

But that's the level they are at on the tape. Same as the end of the common version. Not everything needs to be tweaked.

Sax was done on 11 Oct., but there are later overdubs from the 14th in this. I dunno. It's cool and all, super fun and a real keeper, but maybe not necessary for this compilation.

I noticed That Means a Lot in the vintage mixes folder is mainly the Anthology 2 version with the stereo reverb. Does that mean the claim about the right channel being the unaltered RM1 isn't true?
I suppose the right channel is pretty close to being RM1. They drenched this in reverb to hide the nasty dropout in the middle, then they added more reverb in the 80s to make it stereo. What you're hearing is the 80s version, which I suppose doesn't make it truly "vintage", but that's the best we have for an inline recording of the vintage mix.

Currently uploading is the full volume 13 as it stands today. I'm still calling this a prototype, as there are the following items that still need to be sorted:

Blackbird [RM6] intro from WABC-FM
1968-08-22 Back in the U.S.S.R. [take 5 without overdubs] might be the wrong speed. still hear guitar overdub at 3.4 seconds. cymbals are a little squishy.
1968-08-28 Dear Prudence [take 1 pre-chat] RB waiting for csnyfan to remove She's A Woman guitar
anything new from McCartney 3, 2, 1
I'm So Tired IMP track 7 (or equivalent from CRMM) has differences at 0:41 and 1:49, and is a unique mix. Not included as I still need to de-wow.
Blackbird [take 32] still has some guitar overdubs that I'm hoping csnyfan can remove.

Link can be found in the first post, but give it an hour or so to finish uploading.

As always, feedback is requested.

I have isolated the final cymbal hit without the squeaky chair loop: hxxps://we.tl/t-vzN0plZC8o
BUT it's probably not from that song due to the line up - I thought it might be from an Abbey Road song (Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Octopus's Garden) or even I Me Mine. Comparing the frequency response of the cymbals should give away the session it was from.
Not really Don't Pass Me By. Always thought it was Here Comes The Sun:

Yeah, vocal came after the saxes, so that one is likely from the 14th. I'm pretty sure I can also get a pretty clean live basic track from the isolations I have made.

Blackbird [RM6] intro from WABC-FM
What's up with that? Longer than the Peter Seller's tape version?

I would suggest moving (all) the 1968-10-08 I'm So Tired mixes to vintage mixes, except for the isolated overdubs mix.
1968-07-30 Hey Jude [unknown take + unknown] HS(BBC)
has John's "it's very hard to sing this y'know" from 1968-10-13 Julia [rehearsal] SDE - shall we remove that from the composite?

1968-07-30 Hey Jude - Las Vegas Tune - St. Louis Blues MJ(TIO) trim
untrimmed version is still included too

1968-08-14 What's The New Mary Jane [take 2 announcement] Anthology LD iso
great idea, I originally thought it was just a fake count in tacked at the front! Shall I nitpick? The bass of the loud guitar note comes from take 1, and you missed the second syllable of the choking.

1968-09-12 Piggies [take 12 - no orchestra & SFX] csnyfan(WA5.1+SDE)
is misdated and should be 1968-09-19, hence my question earlier.

Julia Take 2 (Anth) is missing.

If we're including the sound samples for Bungalow Bill, we should probably also include those loops that circulate for Revolution 9.

yes, but in abysmal quality. still sorting out what to do there.

oh, I meant to move them. I guess since there's one missing, they're still in the main "working" folder

probably. I'll take a look

umm, I thought I just used the date you had in WAfun. I'll change it.

nice catch!

Oh yeah, I have some of those isolated already and was meaning to include them. you say there's some circulating?
