Has anyone heard the Cavern ‘Misery’ recording from Evolver 63 yet?

I sure hope recordings like this would appear in the future box sets! Who knows how much demos they recorded for other artists.

'I know he's gonna go, but I still love him so'
This demo is written and sung from a girl's perspective

Listening to the clip, it sounds like she/her more than he/him, despite what they sang in the first verse. And since it wasn't recorded for official release, I'd expect that the intended singer would choose their pronouns accordingly.

Thank you, and massive thanks to the two guys who recorded this. I played this just now thinking it was going to be a bit of a disappointment, but it's actually quite beautiful. Your Helen Shapiro suspicions sound about right, too.Lord Reith wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:57 am Given that this is an acetate do we think that the other side is Love Of The Loved and that they also intended this for Shapiro?
Actually I'm shocked at how good this sounds just for a cavern recording with one mic. I wish they'd recorded every song they ever played!

Thank you very much Lord Reith for sharing this - as you say it is a surprisingly good recording. Another glimpse into the unexpected, brilliant!

I loved him from before.
But I can, that, restore.
Funky grammar...but so was
"It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide...I can't hide..."
Humbler, fat and smaller!
Some Spanner you are!

Wow! Thanks so much to LR and the tapers!!

The Lord giveth...and the Lord giveth even more. Thank you so much for this absolute gem. I've left messages on some of the websites that Paul (or his people) are likely to see, suggesting items for a possible Anthology 4 to go with Now and Then. If I'd known of the existence of this I would have added it to the list.Lord Reith wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 5:58 am Here it is from a stereo audience recording:

Obviously an acetate not a tape, but quite good quality. Lyrics not so hot though!
