Re: 1965 Atlanta upgrade?
The source for the Atlanta show doesn't sound that good. He must've turned all the treble down so the cymbal noise could be replaced. The 65' Atlanta show is them at their best really, & any attempt to get more quality out is a venture worth seeking out. I can only imagine the time it took to sync up the drums...

Re: 1965 Atlanta upgrade?
Sounds more like a mashup to me. Atlanta mixed with the drums from another concert.
I could be wrong, and if I am I apologise but it just don't sound right to me.

Re: 1965 Atlanta upgrade?
Wasn't this recording from a radio broadcast by the station sponsoring the show, like Houston '65?
Furthermore, Atlanta that year was the very first rock concert where they made use of folddown speakers so they could hear themselves, which very much improved their performance (although on the photos you can't see these on stage).

Agreed. At the 2:07 mark, you can hear the snare on the original recording out-of-sync with the added drum track (presumably spectrally-extracted from another performance).Lord Reith wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:29 am Sounds more like a mashup to me. Atlanta mixed with the drums from another concert.

I say fake.

Those are definitely Hollywood Bowl drums

Hello, long time no see!
I didn't know it was discussed here.
As many would expect, this is not actually a true upgrade sound source.
It's a fake, made with the expectation that if the recording of this concert was really good, it would sound like this.
The original sound source is Atlanta on 8/18.
The drums are the Hollywood Bowl on 8/30.
The bass is the Hollywood Bowl on 8/29.
It is made from a combination of these three.
I apologize to everyone who was looking forward to it.
Reagrds.
