Here is a YT video (miraculously, somehow?, still up) playing 47-seconds of the actual Ampex Abbey Road reel. There is definitely something wrong with this deck's speed here (a portable Panasonic RS790); though: I hope the pitch isn't THAT far-off fast on the tape itself (I'm not a fan of A.R., prefer L.I.B. as an album more, so I never went-about acquiring the reel of it....could've had one in a mold-damaged box two-years' ago for $125, but passed).

Re: Beatles - Ampex reel-to-reel tapes
There's a vastly marked improvement playing them on machines of this grade (in my experience):

4-track-mind, what kind of system do you have? I like your transfers quite a bit.
Have you had a chance to listen to this set I uploaded? I’d really be interested in your opinion of the overall sound.

Re: Beatles - Ampex reel-to-reel tapes
I have to clear some space in my MEGAsync Uploads folder, so these links will all be deleted this coming Friday (10/15)... If anyone still wants these, they'll be up for a few more days, then gone like the wind.powerPC wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 4:41 pm These are probably fairly common now, but back in my “early” trading days these seemed to be highly sought after… at least I was always on the lookout for them. But with all of the newer Beatles remasters (and fantastic needle-drops), these are probably somewhat redundant and non-essential nowadays. However, if anyone here doesn’t already have them, I’m sharing these exactly as I received them (whether or not they are actually taken from Ampex reel tapes I do not know).
They sound very good, but I think there’s something a little “off” with the speed, or pitch, or something like that (obviously I’m not an audio expert LOL)… so if any of you audio gurus out there feel like doing any necessary corrections or adjustments, please feel free to do so and share it with this group (I’d LOVE this set in better sound quality if possible).

Rubber Soul (Capitol/Ampex L-2442)

Of the two duplicate titles (Meet the Beatles & Hey Jude); I can’t really discern which source is better for each… both have their pros and cons.
The downloads contain the original FLAC files as I received them, including the original artwork. I made different artwork for my own use, you’re welcome to use it as well:
