OK, I suppose someone here knows about these old British TV programs, but it appears to me to be a case of prerecorded music with live singing. Is that the case?

No. The Morecambe and Wise performance was entirely live. Yes, The Beatles were that good! And the sound engineers knew what they were doing!

Entirely live? Then those sound engineers were absolutely amazing. It only struck me they weren't lip-syncing because during "I Want To Hold Your Hand" I didn't hear John's vocal flub, which I was anticipating.
