Re: Yellow Matter Custard / Purple Matter Custard (stereo)
Thanks for your feedback guys, good to know you enjoyed them. I didn't really expect anybody to be still interested in twintrack style mixes but I guess I was wrong. I guess that style of mixing is ingrained into our psyche. But aside from that, as a boy trying to learn guitar being able to just turn off the voices was a great help to me. I spent hours studying George's playing and his intricate little bits in the background which would have been impossible if I'd had the mono lps. Likewise, after rechanneling these mono tracks into the same format I began to notice all sorts of things which have previously escaped me. For instance, that weird trembly noise on the very last chord of Clarabella turns out to be Paul going "Wooooaaaaahh" in a low voice. I'd always thought it was a guitar! It's also pretty interesting being able to hear those raw John and Paul voices as they go for it. Paul's voice in particular was an amazing instrument and he is clearly having a whale of a time just cutting loose on tracks like Ooh My Soul. Hard to believe three guys could just sing like that at the drop of a hat, no Autotune or any other gubbins required. Surely the most elastic and expressive voices in popular music history.
I just realised that the Village People were singing about Yellow Matter Custard. "Y-M-C-A" actually stands for "Yellow Matter Custard Audio".

Violet Matter sounds like a chick's name.General Pepper wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 2:48 pm Missed an opportunity here, Lord Reith. Should have been Violet Matter Custard.

Charles Hawtrey is referring to the first upload of YMC which was only available for a few minutes and featured an amazing Sun-style slapback echo courtesy of my having failed to mute one of the tracks when exporting. This rare version is now a collector's item and like the Butcher Cover will become highly valuable in years to come. Even I don't have a copy. It is that rare.A-Caceres wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 4:53 pm..a Dave Dexter Capitol edition? That should be fun, but not the best sounding quality, faux-stereo, drenched in echo, and a cobbled up cover art with an uninspiring album title. I bet you if released in an LP, people will still buy.CharlesHawtrey wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 1:04 pm

Are you talking about Violet Matter? I don't know her sorry.

Awesome as always LR. Thank you so very much.
Now you are all starting to see just why some people like ME have always been Twin-track Matter Custard heads, lol. I was always into it because of the little extra detail I could pick-up on here and there.
