Re: The Beatles At The Beeb 1982 extended
OK! First I must thank LR once again for curating this incredible archive of BBC tracks! Based on my collection structured on his 2021 BBC ARCHIVES set, we are but only partially through this new release!
So of course I wondered, "Surely I have these Harry tracks already from his and others' sets", and sure enough I do. So I began to compare...
I noticed the couple of new Harry tracks I checked matched the waveforms of the earlier ARCHIVES set, so I can only ask which were reused and which were upgraded since then. Is ARCHIVES meant to become obsolete? You know I don't want TWO copies of anything!
In what I call my "BBC COLLATED COLLECTION", I have folders labeled by year, and subfolders by recording/airing dates, followed by additional subfolders where people such as Melvin and philfree remixed the tracks in stereo. The idea is to have only ONE master set of BBC tracks collated from various releases, if possible.
Besides LR (whose work comprises the majority of the collection), I have selections of these tracks from "The Complete Joe Pope Tapes" (viewtopic.php?t=2865&p=42497), a handful remastered by mr678mr678 and csnyfan, the cv from Apple Music's "Bootleg Recordings 1963" and a few others.
Here's where it gets tricky:
In some cases, LR's tracks seemed "less clear" than the Pope alternates, but the alternates had some AM static or whatever which probably made him choose the ones he did. So what to do!
Tonight I did a couple of quick mixes where I have LR's new Harry tracks hard-panned in the L channel and the seemingly clearer Joe Pope version synced on the R. These selections are from 3/16/63:

So at some point, the BBC offerings we have on hand need to be reviewed and the best versions of each song identified............

Yes. Almost everything is resourced from tapes. There's only about 10 tracks in the whole thing from other sets, bootlegs or otherwise. 90% of it is new.
