A simple mix with less guitar throughout:
Why?
I always thought it a was a bit bad of George to later slag off Paul for being over-bearing on his songs. in Jan 69 he was really working with George on the likes of All Things Must Pass and Let It Down, whereas John was at best uninterested and at worst plainly dismissive of his songs.
They started work on Abbey Road without John due to his car crash, and by singling out 'Something' as an example George really gets it wrong. Paul's bassline elevates the track, kind of how a great jazz bass player does, complementing without dominating, almost a one-note string part.
Ringo's drums and George Martin's strings do likewise. It's a classic track because it is a great team effort.
So here's a version with much less of George's guitar - maybe the remix Paul would have wanted Giles to make!
If anyone likes it and wants a flac download just let me know.
