Thank you very much for these. I have lots of them on CD-R that "supposedly" came from original rips, but not it's nice to know for sure!

Very much appreciate the effort here.

Thanks cliftdean74! Would anyone be interested in what source was used for SLY (mono)?

You look at the right channels of MR and the 1992 CD EP.

some guidance
How similiar are they they overall?
Do start and end points of visible audio line up?
Is the high frequency cut-off similiar?
Do you notice anything during or post fadeout? Post 20K?
some of my thoughts on how to interpret this and additional info
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. A - B = 0? No. Slight drift.
What are the anomalies post 20k? Likely some sort of glitch.
What about those 2 barely visible ones (1:15 & 1:23 in the lower one? Turns out they are also there but much quieter and less visible in the upper one. Still traces of the more pronounced later one will probably visible without amplification if you look at the picture fullscreen, certainly true for my eyes/display.
My conclusion: MR is likely sourced from the 92 CD, via Ebbetts possibly, comparing more than just 1 track would make the likelyhood of that happening more clear. I can even say it's more likely sourced from the 1992 EP not 1993's Red , because the channels on the 1993 CD are out of sync by 1 sample.
Furthermore left and right channels of MR are not identical even in between the obvious (stereo) glitches which I am currently attributing to mastering errors not ripping errors, given secure mode was used. Test & Copy would further support this.
I would attribute the fact that the waveform is inverted, the speed is slightly off, hum visible post fade, the almost disappearing anomalies post 20K and what oopsing MR leaves behind to it beeing a capture from the analogue out of a cd player. Maybe 24-bit remastering. Maybe some other reason.
Any hint this came from vinyl? Speed instabilities, distortion, surface noise? No.
EDIT: Zooming in I could determine what I interpretated as hum at first glance is very low frequency, DC offset I guess.
I hope this is helpful and polite. I want those Unicorn rips after all. BTW: I think John's reel to reel is relatively similiar to a Sony TC-854-4.
