On 4th June 1967, at Brian Epstein's Saville Theatre in London, rock trio "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" famously opened their live set with a raucous cover of Sgt Pepper's title track just 3 days after the Beatles LP was released.
Paul McCartney & George Harrison were in the audience with Paul recalling: "the curtains flew back and Jimi came walking forward playing Sgt Pepper. It's a pretty major compliment in anyone's book - I put that down as one of the great honours of my career".
Sadly this performance was not recorded, but a few weeks later Jimi performed the song at The Hollywood Bowl (18th August 1967) and it's from this new mono CD release that I have remixed the performance into stereo while keeping the attack and punch of the original. I hope you like it!
