The Beatles in Color Vol. 1 (VAL-054)
There's a lot on this disc to enjoy, and a lot that, frankly, frustrates. At moments, the producers seem to get the colors *exactly* right, and then, moments later, colors start shimmering and go out of whack. It's novel, and fun, in its way. Don't expect perfection and take the good with the bad. I have a friend who had this months ago. Over email, he said that he prefers the Beatles in black and white. After seeing these clips, I can see his point. A lot of the backdrops and sets were constructed strictly with b/w transmission in mind. The Feb 16 '64 Sullivan clip looks so bland from a color perspective.
Still, this brought a smile to my face the first time I watched it... hopefully, it'll do the same for you!
Note: download all three of these parts and unzip them together!

Thanks 20YearsAgo for posting this.
There is a great series I have been watching recently called “America In Color” which has colourized footage of the Beatles first visit to the US in 1964 which is superbly done. It makes you realise what can be done with the right software and skills. I feel our friends at Valkyrie have a little way to go yet before they nail this. Some parts are good, others are a little weak.

When I was a kid, I used to look at all the old photographs and think the world used to be in black and white. I remember asking my mum how they coped back when the world wasn't colour.
