That quote from Giles is from some time ago, and predates the "MAL" technology that Peter Jackson and his team developed for the Get Back film. That's a game changer, and may alter Giles's idea about this.

The demonstration of Mr. Jackson's "Mal" system for demixing mono recordings is at around 1'20" for anyone who wants to skip ahead. But pretty much everything he said over the four hours was pretty illuminating.
