Have you compared the times on the abrupt ending versus the fade ending? I'm just guessing, but I would think engineers at the Italian mastering plant thought the abrupt ending was a mistake and just faded early, so both times would be mostly equal.

The official version is 7:47. The Italian version is 7:34 and the fade-out is pretty long, starting at around 7:03. I'm guessing that they got the masters and assumed that the hard cut was a mistake though and did their fade-out.

There is a Dutch version of Abbey Road that apparently also has a fade-out on I Want You. I have researched which version supposedly has it, I just need to get a hold of a copy.

There is also a Mexican EP with an I Want You fade-out, but I'm positive that one is for space purposes only (I will upload the EP soon).
