My Dear Friends
I read on a blog called The Beatles In My Life that Peter Jackson had bought the Hamburg Beatles tapes, making him their owner.
So Peter's dream of remaking Star Club will come true? Without the poor work that Giles Martin, with his opacity in delivering deluxe editions, has achieved.
What do you think?
Greetings
Anton

Yes Anton if you listen to this podcast, at 1'34'30" he has a lot of interesting stuff to say about the Star Club tape.

Re: Peter Jackson At Last !! Owner of the Star Club Tapes??
Possession of these tapes has traditionally proved to be a big disappointed to their previous owners. Their poor sound quality has always been enough to be used to justify "brushing them off" for any serious release, plus of course their previously dubious position (before The Beatles won their High Court case) as to who owns the rights to publish them or not.
We might be in a position now where something really worthwhile could be done to improve their sound quality and by somebody they appear to have taken onboard as an insider. I think if the result of PJ's experiments with these tapes are promising enough it just might be enough to spark a bit of interest in the remaining Beatles and their representatives.

Thank goodness it is in good hands.
I fear though whatever version he eventually hands over to Apple will get mucked up with compression, fake surround channels, extra reverb.

Yes, and every time it sounds like you don't like him at all. You should try to filter out your discontent.

Jackson should incorporate the rest of the necessary ingredients. Possibly, Lord Reith and GeorgeFromHenley...
The music is only PART of the dynamic!
What about Preludin, Penicillin, Paternity?
It's a context thing. In many important ways!
Besides, it's such a short story, why not be complete about it!
This is THAT opportunity!

Just think of how much he could do with bringing out the Beatles singing & playing from some of the live stuff that had all that screaming over it all!
