Any advice for a Covid sufferer?

Post by Lord Reith »

As you may or may not know I have had Covid since Saturday. I'm constantly either freezing cold or drenched in sweat. I can't eat anything else other than fruit and veg because it all tastes like rubber.

Now I know i could google it, but the net is overwhelmed with "official" advice and everyone else's opinion has been quietly ignored. So I'm asking: what worked for you? Did you find any strategy to cope?

All advice welcome...

Sorry you're feeling so bad, Covid is dreadful.

You have my sympathy, I've had it twice and unfortunately the best thing to do is as little as possible.
Plenty of water, eat what you can when you feel like it, and take as many painkiller's as it's safe to take.
You should start to fell better after a few days.
Most of my links are to OneDrive. However, OneDrive does impose a download limit and when this is reached displays a message that the files are deleted or have expired. Leave it a while and try again later.

If how my wife and I felt is anything to go by, these nasty symptoms should not last too long (48 hours in our case) and you will move on to the feeling totally exhausted phase.
All you can do is sit it out, drink plenty, take painkillers and get as much rest as you can.
Sorry you seem to be having a particularly bad bout of it, get well soon.

Eating raw honey can help as it’s a natural antihistamine. It has to be the raw stuff though - most supermarket honey is pasteurised, which is a byproduct of it being heated up in order to make it easier to extract and process. Raw isn’t, but it’s more expensive as a result.

When the whole Covid thing took off I read in a science journal that the beekeepers of Wuhan didn’t contract Covid. It wasn’t entirely down to the honey and it’s probably a a bit too long and tedious to relate here - all to do with plant enzymes apparently.

Treat it like an extreme flu - lots of fluids and rest, rest, rest.

Actually, if you feel like we felt, you won't be able to do much except rest.

The worst of the symptoms passed quickly for us, but the exhaustion lasted about 10 days.

Good luck!

Sadly, I don´t think there´s much to do besides having patience, drinking a lot of water and treating with the usual medicine the most common symptoms, such as the fever. For all the efforts concerning precautions and the vaccine, I don´t hear about improvements on treating the desease itself.

Hoping all the best on your recovery, Lord Reith!

When I noticed I lost my sense of smell I bought a bottle of vanilla extract to sniff regularly to stimulate those nerves. My sense of smell fully returned.

3 times I had it. Just have to rest and ride it out.

Had night sweats for 3-4 nights. Bed was soaking wet. Took about 3 days to feel a bit better and about 2 weeks to get over it completely as I was drained and so tired after the fever.

Hope you feel better soon. Plenty of rest and TV.

Take it easy!
