So, what do we know about this vehicle, which arrived at Twickenham on January 6?
George Martin was lending the Beatles some recording gear, which was delievered in this. Must have belonged to Apple, but has it ever been seen anywhere else? Are there any photos of it, near the Apple Building or outside Abbey Road or anything? Wonder what happened to it..

PMJ 317F?
I bet it found a scrap heap in...(drumroll)...Greece!
Possibly, registered to Alexis(first initial M)
That is obviously the Granny Smith in question! If the apples are decals, or magnetic...we should have seen a couple of others by this time. I thought a custom paint job would look more like Baker Street but the van wasn't tall enough! FOOLS! Was the apple in question so well known that NOTHING else could bring more municipal status to the vehicle? (Inadequate). Vegetable/fruit vendor? How do you know? So it IS odd that we don't see Apple Records or EMI somewhere on the hull or stern. I got it! Magic Alex painted the letters with blinking paint and its batteries have already been depleted!
If it's not a Hare Krishna shuttle to the sound stage then paint it bright green and put a stem on the roof! ('Worm!!!')
Or, Richard DiLello is living in it down by the river!

Looks like temporary decals (the two smaller ones on the back doors are exactly same as the one on the side) or otherwise a paint job all done for the film only.

It is a Commer Walk Thru Courier Express Security Van.

PNJ indicates it is a personalised number plate. The F stands for the year, 1967- 1968. So the riddle is: why did someone choose '317' for the license plate?

Re: The Apple van - what do we know?
Personalised plate because the letters are PNJ, as in, Paul and John?
I think that's just conicidence to be honest. All number plates followed that standard format with three letters at the start, but personalised ones tended to be deliberately different, and you might see something like APP 1. (Another standard one is LMW 281F.)
The final letter indicates the year of registration, and this van ends in F which means it was first on the road in 1967 or 1968, which is what you would expect. I'm more interested in the van's comings and goings. Where was it during these sessions? Was it ever seen or photographed? Does it turn up in any other images anywhere? It was presumably outside in public view a lot of the time, unless, as was suggested, the Apple insignia was added just for the sake of getting this shot.

So today I learned that there's an IMDB for cars. And they have a page for the Apple van. Not much info, but still.
