RIP Michael Parkinson.

Macca was a friend. Their interviews were quite relaxed

He also appeared on the BOTR cover.

He also interviewed John & Yoko. He was a big part of night time viewing when I was growing up, usually on school nights!

Not long ago, the full Lennon interview was up on YouTube in excellent quality, now sadly down. I don't suppose anyone captured it? (or the video of Ringo on Parky in 1981?)

Parky was the greatest interviewer who ever lived. We shan't see his like again.

I had no idea that Michael first met The Beatles in the Cavern. Didn't Paul make Michael wait years before he gave him an interview? RIP.

"I first met Michael Parkinson in

Liverpool when he and his team came to see us at the Cavern Club. He was a very likeable guy and we eventually did our first TV performances with Granada in Manchester, where Michael worked.

Through the years I got to know him more and more, and appeared on his chat show quite a few times. He was a pleasure to talk to and we always had fun. He appeared on the front cover of 'Band on the Run' as one of the escaping convicts in the title song. He was very knowledgeable about many subiects and a keen sports-lover.

I will miss him personally, as a good friend. I send all my love to his family and friends. Cheers Michael, you're a great guy okay! - Paul x"
