Re: Center channel isolation for Audacity?
Isn't there a technique of inverting one channel and summing to the other that creates an OOPS or something to the effect ?
I thought TJT and group carried this out on the whole catalog.
Quite a fun listen BTW.

Inverting one of the two channels cancels out what they both have in common, so that would remove the center. The result then is just the sides, folded to mono.

Excellent!
I used the center channel plugin for Winamp on my old computer but it won't work with Windows 7 and above. I could not find a hack to make those plugins work.

A word for the wise...
Some Beatles songs and even entire albums have askew azimuth on ALL versions (even 2009). The whole BFS album is one sample out on one channel, so you need to split the stereo and then nudge either the left or right channel (can't remember which) forwards one sample, then rejoin.
Other songs I discovered with a similar problem were Penny lane, Hey Jude, Help and some more I've forgotten! Money is really badly out... I think it was 8 samples but it also wobbles around a bit unlike my other examples.
The point is, the centre extract won't work properly unless this is corrected first.

I am a primitive compared to you people, but I use Goldwave for isolating center and side channels. It cost me $40 when I bought it 10 years ago, and it's had countless upgrades since. I use the function mostly for removing surface noise on mono vinyl records, since stereo needles introduce pops on unused side channels. And then it has an additional feature to remove "pops" again, although that one has a tendency to smudge the sound so I use it sparingly.

Yep offset by about one sample on most and several on others. I mentioned it on the previous forum way back. I had to fix all that before even using the center plugin in 2014.
