Interesting that Disney Australia has said farewell to consumers who wanting locally pressed dvds etc.
Mind you (locally) the classic Doctor Who blu ray season boxes, in April Universal suddenly announced stopping physical releases but another distributor has picked it up for an August release.

Walmart Reportedly in Talks to Take Over DVD & Blu-Ray Disc Business
As sales for DVDs and Blu-ray Discs plummet, Walmart may be considering taking over management of Studio Distribution Services (SDS), which handles the distribution of physical media.
Walmart submitted a request for proposal for SDS, according to Media Play News. The move would help streamline the distribution of merchandise from studios to independent suppliers. Walmart would assist SDS in managing physical entertainment merchandise.

People really are clueless aren't they?
I can remember when you could only rent movies, and to buy one to keep cost a frigging fortune, and the range of titles was about 0.001% of what it later became. Then we had a great revolution where all the films and tv shows of the past became available to ordinary people for the first time. You could finally see them, own them in great quality. For the first time, you had choice.
Now people are voluntarily going back to having a curated list of limited titles presented to them by streaming giants, and throwing away their dvds and blurays. They surely must love being punished.
As usual, everything ends up going backwards.

If it can be streamed it can be captured or hacked, then taken offline, then Jo blo uploads it result: no profit back to the owners no one gets paid l. Can't wait to hear our howls of 'told you so' when their business and profits from physical sales dries up.

There are better ways to profit than physical mass...like ethereal, trackable, automated, digital...Megazeti wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 4:27 am If it can be streamed it can be captured or hacked, then taken offline, then Jo blo uploads it result: no profit back to the owners no one gets paid l.
