Hi folks. I'm trying to determine when the word 'Beatleg' was first used in print.
I'm pretty sure I was not the first to use it when I published my newsletter, "Belmo's Beatleg News" in 1987. But I have been unable to find it in any publications before then.
Thoughts?

I always thought that you made up the word Belmo. Not sure if the term was ever used earlier. Just wanted to say thank you for every publication, I do have your books (Not For Sale is obviously not in mint condition, used it so many times).

Your newsletter was certainly the first time I ever laid eyes upon that term…let’s give credit where credit is due!beatlesbelmo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 5:32 pm Hi folks. I'm trying to determine when the word 'Beatleg' was first used in print.

Thanks all for your kind words. I may have been the first to use this term; however, I certainly think it is possible someone came up with it before me. Anyway, keep on Beatlegging!

Re: Origin of term 'Beatleg'
I'd collected boots since 1982 and never once heard or read the word until I saw a copy of Belmos. I remember laughing.
