This is a little scary at
The vocals might be slightly off his voice but to include a video of him singing it.

"slightly off"? While the accompanying video makes it a bit cooler, still not very convincing AI vocals. Could be anybody singing but it's not John

Truly awful on every level. I wish these things would just stop. Pointless.

I totally agree. All the AI voice impersonations I've heard just sound like someone trying to impersonate or imitate the singer in question.cliftdean74 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 3:41 pm Truly awful on every level. I wish these things would just stop. Pointless.
Decades ago, Rich Little impersonated, say, Richard Nixon. No one watching or listening to Little's impersonations ever for a moment thought they were actually watching or listening to Nixon. It was cute... and funny... but not convincing. These AI thingies are even worse than Little's impersonations. Maybe they're "clever" but utterly unconvincing.
One thing that AI can (at least for not) anticipate is how different singers would re-interpret songs. Take another Bowie/Lennon example. When David Bowie recorded "Across the Universe" [note: Lennon was an actual participant in that session], he totally re-interpreted the song. It wasn't just some guy (ie Bowie) overlaying a new vocal on a pre-existing arrangement but Bowie taking creative liberties and making the song suit his vision for it.

This sounds like Bowie doing a Lennon impression, though it's interesting to see the flexibility of the space helmet as 'John' moves about!

Re: John Lennon singing "Space Oddity" AI
I'm hoping Beatle AI turns out to be like recordings of Beatle tribute bands:
The first time you hear one it's " wow, that was pretty cool".
The next time it's "ummm, nice, I guess".
Finally, it becomes "maybe I'll listen to it later when I have a chance" (which never comes)

It appears Paul himself is getting into the "John vocal extraction" excitement!
