In my travels I discovered this, the inspiration for John's song. I have never seen it before.

On a similar topic. I read the Gordon Lightfoot song Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was based on a magazine article as well.
Found that article and the lyrics jump off the page. Much like John's circus poster for 'Mr Kite.
