And now I'm curious about it.

I've started that one up again, seeing that there is a level of interest in this!!!

YSS is quite heavily compressed (not as bad as the 2017 remix of SPLHCB...!!!) and I wanted to make it breathe, so I put the tracks through the EQ-matching process which made them sound a lot better to my ears: another tweak that improves the YSS CD is using the high pass filter trick in Audacity to remove the subsonic bass compression.

This is the YSS CD from 1999 EQ-matched to the 1987 CD versions (the two Rubber Soul tracks were EQ-matched to the 2009 reissued original stereo mixes):
