Nobody comes off well in this.

The company charging a fortune for something it isn't.

The folk who claim analogue is king turns out can't hear the difference which in essence means there's very little point bar point scoring.

Absolutely bizarre by the company though.

So what? It's better this way for the master tapes.
(And there is no detectable difference in the end result anyway)

Didn't many master tapes burn up at Universal anyway-?

Same thing happened to historical Irish records (not LPs...) a hundred years ago.

Lessons: Don't store all your important stuff in one place! And if you insert digital into the anolog chain, be transparent about it!

Seems so. Even their new upcoming Thriller release uses DSD in the processing chain but starts off analog. Not exactly 'all analog' or AAA after all.

It is extraordinary that they never thought to tell their customers that they were issuing something that 'sounds just as good as analogue' as opposed to 'fully analogue'. Whether there is a difference or not, they must have known that would be a dealbreaker for many collectors.

I am worried that home taping is killing music
Does this mean Geo-Disc is coming back and this time, it's improved?
AND we don't deburr our stampers!
Now, the only gimmick that can save the industry is NO GIMMICK!
No two copies are exactly the same.
How can we ever be happy?
Can I enjoy anything without being told that I can?
Everything is recorded live!
Does this mean that the MFSL gimmick has been the LP jacket?
I need to check the banner...does it still say ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING...
was it ever true?
Gimmicks...a great name for a band.
Gametes and Zygotes and
Planaria and marsupials.
What a mess. It almost sounds like a spin for streams, clouds and, ahem, honesty!
But how will we know?
