I am in agreement that the intro was part of the broadcast so not intrusive generally.

But where I do see this technique as useful is where the only audio we have is from a radio or tv programme that isn't contemporaneous to the Beatles recording...like the 'this is how they sounded that day' on the Quarrymen 'Puttin' on the Style' garden fete clip. I t would be great to hear this and other similar clips without the voice overs that are not of 'the time'.
