So I made a data disc of mp3 files just for my own use to listen to on my cd/mp3 player. The disc has no problems in the computer but no matter what these files will not play on the regular player. I did several reburns of it at slower speeds, I checked the files and they're fine, Memorex brand discs which I never have issues with. It's just this one disc that it will not play. Does anyone know what else I can try?

If you still have the source mp3 files on your PC, you can compare them digitally against the ones on your disc. I use "Total Commander" for such purposes. If the files in both folders are identical, it's not the disc but some of your files (non-standard bitrate or whatever).

Not all CD players will play a data CD with mp3 on (as opposed to an audio CD) it so you should verify that your CD player in question does before checking anything else. My $.02

I'm curious on opinions. I have an Onkyo cd/mp3 6 disc changer. The current brand of cr-r I'm using is Maxell. I burn a mp3 disc and the computer will recognize it but the Onkyo player will spin it then skip to the next disc. It's been playing Memorex ones with no problem. Some work here and there but very few. Could this be a bad batch of discs or just a bad brand? I would think if it was the player it would be doing this on other discs.

Question: are you burning the CDrs at a slow enough rate? I have found there are many players that will not recognize CDrs that have been burned at anything over 4x.

If you are burning a data disc full of mp3s, don't count on your consumer CD player to play it. Most of them do not have a UDF reader, they only play CDDA discs. It has nothing to do with the brand of disc or the burning speed. A DVD player we bought in 2001 would play data mp3 discs and VCDs (and SVCDs), but no other non-computer drive I've had since would play them.

It was either the brand or bad batch but everything works now.
