Thanks for the tip about Recuva. I found it. It's not quite freeware. But what it DID do that I could not, is to make it so I could see the "dead drive" on my desktop. Which made it possible for me to recover pretty much everything on it.

is the Sexy Sadie 6 x DVD set worth anything. i've got the Hand Maiden reissue of it (HHA-88 Maiden Hand 2016) but wether it or its source are lossless i'm not sure (that's my inexperience)
