it seems you can up to a point, if someone else posts after you you cannot delete it.

Thanks for responding. That's useless. I can't even delete my posts if no one's responded to them. Why is this right removed from us? What did we do to disqualify ourselves from earning the right to delete our posts if we decide they are inappropriate or unnecessary?

If you make a post you see these icons and it has an 'X"

but if someone posts after yours, the "X" disappears

mojo,

you should at least be able to edit your own posts by using the 'pen'-icon in the upper right corner of your post.
Simply erase the complete text.

I've done that, but I fail to understand why deleting our posts isn't an option.

I can assure you it’s not a right that has been removed or taken away.

As has been pointed out, deleting posts can be done easily until someone replies to the thread. Once someone replies you can only edit your post by deleting the content, not the entire post. This is standard functionality otherwise you would have full power to delete active threads, which would generally be pretty chaotic.

Once my input has been deemed inappropriate and people are disagreeing with what I said to the extent that I have been made to feel like an idiot for having had anything to say, why can I not remove my post that made people put me down in public for having had an opinion?

If posts are breaking rule #1, please notify me and I'll remove them.
